Synopsis

Son of the writer, painter, director and cultural organizer Cesare, Arturo Zavattini is a photographer, as well as an operator and director of photography. He has worked with important Italian and foreign directors and filmed the only feature film directed by his father, La Veritàaaa, in 1982. He participated, as a photographer, in the first expedition of the ethnologist Ernesto de Martino in Lucania, in 1952.

A large retrospective exhibition of his images from the 1950s was inaugurated in Rome in December 2015 and is currently traveling around Italy. Passeggiata Napoletana presents the photographs taken by Zavattini in two days in the city, in October 1957, revealing his extraordinary qualities as a street photographer.

Arturo Zavattini
(Luzzara, 1930) Son of the writer, painter, director and cultural organizer Cesare, he was, as well as a photographer, operator and director of photography, working with important Italian and foreign directors and filming the only feature film directed by his father, La Veritàaaa, in 1982. As a photographer, he was part of the first expedition of the ethnologist Ernesto de Martino in Lucania, in 1952. Arturo is the curator of the Cesare Zavattini Archive.
