Synopsis

These images by photographer Flore show us an Orient suspended between imagination and reality, intimacy and illusion; a vision that, drawing inspiration from the childhood lived in Egypt and at the same time from the great literary texts, reveals a vague nostalgia for an era in which the slow journey to the mysterious East was an initiation, as well as a synonym for adventure.

What the artist offers us is an invitation to travel, in the most authentic orientalist tradition. Her images are of a dream that modernity can never alter. The photos in this book are the result of the photographer's numerous visits to the Mediterranean: Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Morocco, Andalusia and Tunisia.
