Synopsis

Rinko Kawauchi is one of the most innovative talents in japanise contemporary photography, as well as abroad. Illuminance, published in co-edition between Postcart and Aperture (New York), is the first of Kawauchi’s books to be published outside Japan.

Kawauchi’s work has been frequently praised for its choice of expressive and soft colors and for her talent in finding those fragile little things in life that simply surprise and amaze us. In this book the author goes on in her quest for the “extraordinary in the ordinary” fixing somehow the poetical power of nature.
