Born in Warsaw, Poland, Monika Bulaj lives in Trieste, Italy. Main issues of her researches are the borders of faiths (mystic, archetypes, divination, possession, pilgrims, body, cult of the dead), minorities, nomads, migrants, outcasts, dispossessed, in Asia, Europe, and Africa. She has published with La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, National Geographic Italia, GEO, Courrier International, east, Terra. She's also author of books and has had more than 60 exhibitions all around the world.
