
(Napoli, 1980) Documentary photographer and a photo-reporter whose work focuses on socio-political issues, with a particular interest in the resistance of peoples in the face of oppression and the violation of human rights. Masturzo regularly collaborates with various Italian and international magazines and newspapers, including L’Espresso, Internazionale, Il Corriere della Sera, Republik, Le Monde, Geo, Marieclaire, The New Yorker and many others. His works have been widely exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in various galleries, festivals and museums including the Lower Belvedere in Vienna, The Nobel Peace Centre in Oslo, the House of Photography in Hamburg. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Picture of the Year at the World Press Photo for his work in Iran. Since 2015 he has been conducting projects using photography for social purposes, in collaboration with different associations and thanks to the support of Canon Italy. In 2018 he realised his first documentary film Life is but a dream, with documentarist and anthropologist Margherita Pescetti. The project was awarded the Audience Prize at the 59th Festival dei Popoli and the Best Documentary at the 26th Visioni Italiane. He is represented by Prospekt photo agency.
