(Milan, 1952) Historian and critic of Italian photography, since 1984 she teaches History of Art and Photography at the CFP Riccardo Bauer in Milan. From 1987 to 1997 she oversaw the project Archivio dello spazio, within the Architectural and Environmental Heritage project of the Province of Milan directed by Achille Sacconi. From 1989 to 1996 she collaborated with the Archive of the Communication of the Image for Ethnography and Social History of the Lombardy Region. From 1992 to 2000 she collaborated with the Paolo Monti Institute of Photography in Milan for the enhancement of the photographer's work. From 1994 to 1998 she was editorial director of the Art& series of photography books. Design consultant for the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Cinisello Balsamo, she was then scientific director from 2005 to 2015. Lecturer at the University of Udine (1998-2002), at the University of Rome Tor Vergata (1999- 2001), at the Faculty of Design of Milan (2006-2008), from 2011 to 2017 she taught History of Photography at the Higher Education Master on Contemporary Image in Modena. She has written several books on the history and theory of photography, and has curated many exhibitions in Italy and Europe. Since 2017 she is a member of the scientific committee of RSF - Rivista di Studi di Fotografia and since 2018 she is vice president of the SISF - Italian Society for the Study of Photography. Since 2019 she a member of the scientific committee of the journal Photographies (Taylor & Francis).
