Born in Milan in 1973, after graduating in literature, she began teaching the history of photography and photographic language at the professional courses for photographers of the Humanitarian Society. In 1977 she started writing for photographic publishing and collaborating with various periodicals. In 1985 she becomes photo editor of Amica , RCS Periodici. Later she will work at Max (1987), 7/Corriere della Sera (1987), Vanity Fair (1990). In 1991 she becomes director of the monthly Lei Glamour, Edizioni Condé Nast, which she leaves in February 1992. In the same year she becomes photo editor of Moda, then of SportWeek(2000), magazine of the Gazzetta dello Sport. In 2012 she leaves Sportweek and becomes, until December 2015, image consultant at Periodici San Paolo. From 2016 to 2019 she is image consultant of Donna Moderna , Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. Since 2015 she has been president of the Museum of Contemporary Photography of Cinisello Balsamo-Milan. She is in charge of the Gabriele Basilico Archive. In 1998 she was artistic director of the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles. In 2002 she was guest curator of Photo España in Madrid and in 2014 she was, with Laura Serani, artistic delegate of the Mois de la Photo in Paris.
